FANTASTIC!

So, an elephant never forgets? He mourns his dead, caresses their bones, and remembers where they are buried. He can learn to haul heavy loads and do circus tricks. But take a look at this "Self Portrait." It almost made me cry.

Self-aware? Deliberate? I think so. What do you think? I think we have no clue...as to what has gone on, what is going on, what will go on. We people are a self-centered bunch of f**kers at best, believing that our place at the top of the food chain makes us the most beloved of God. God is the God of elephants and cats and jellyfish and rosebushes and bees as well as of mankind. We are all beloved. All things bright and beautiful, all creatures great and small, all things wise and wonderful...you finish it now...while I go get a tissue.

Incredible, he's better at painting than me and I don't jest. I found it strangely moving too.

Animals are a gift from God. Totally blows me away the amount of intelligence some animals have.
Unfortunately the suffering of many animals are out of our hands,
so many greedy humans out there to make money from them! I never saw anything like this, but doesn't surprise me, with all the tricks animals are taught to do. Thanks for sharing. :)

oh that's wonderful, not only self aware and deliberate but talented. Elephants are so incredibly intelligent. We just have no idea how intelligent other species are because we overvalue our own particular type of intelligence and are blind to other types of intelligence.

That was stunning, pepek.

Thank you.

Did you know that cats paint, too? There's even a series of books about it, wonderful funny quirky books, starting with "Why Cats Paint."

And gorillas. Like Koko, the first and most famous sign language speaking gorilla. She got her first pet cat, All Ball, because she specifically asked for a cat as a pet. She's had many more since then.

How can any person with sense deny the personhood of animals, and the life brimming in them all?
