A Primary Allegiance

"Molecules don't have passports. All the creatures on Earth are in this together. We need a primary allegiance to the species and to the planet Earth."

A quote from Carl Sagan--The Compassionate Universe, borrowed this morning from Alyssa at My Examined Life.

Have you examined your life lately? How's that workin' for ya?

My Dr. Phil profile on Facebook says: "Others see you as someone they should 'handle with care.' You're seen as vain, self-centered, and extremely dominant. Others may admire you, wishing they could be more like you. However, they don't always trust you, hesitating to become too deeply involved with you."

You don't trust me? You think I'm vain and self-centered? I LOVE polar bears! I'm sorry global warming is destroying their habitat! I hate that the rain forests and the coral reefs are disappearing! If I had a million dollars (I don't) I would split it between China and Myanmar! I'm nice. You can trust me.

...maybe I'll go now and examine my life....

"An unexamined life is not worth living."--Socrates

Aw heck now - we think you're just the bees knees Pepek!

I know what you mean about wanting to 'fix things' but alas it is more than one person can do. But even so, that still doesn't let us off the hook.

Very pertinent post. Thanks. (BTW Dr Phil doesn't know what he's talking about!)

Ha I found it.......silly test, not sure it shows much of anything as several answers were not perfect fits for me but I got

I scored 48 on Dr. Phil's personality test
Others see you as fresh, lively, charming, amusing, practical and always interesting; someone who's constantly in the center of attention, but sufficiently well-balanced not to let it go to their head. They also see you as kind, considerate, and understanding; someone who will always cheer them up and help them out.

Well my friends might see me that way, but my family (grin)?

That's how I see you, Jo! Anyway that would be MY vain, self-centered opinion. :D

Since the two of my sons who are on Facebook received the same comment from the good Dr. I was beginning to think he only had one response. But I think now it must be something hereditary. We are, as a family, all vain and untrustworthy!

CB, thank you. You're sweet!

Nope, your energy is the opposite of that, Pepek, completely the opposite, you can't keep that stuff hidden.......what does that silly Dr Phil know, how can a personality rest on which way you lie in a bed, fiddlesticks, say I.
