My Family

In My Life

There are places I'll remember
All my life though some have changed
Some forever not for better
Some have gone and some remain
All these places have their moments
With lovers and friends I still can recall
Some are dead and some are living
In my life I've loved them all

But of all these friends and lovers
There is no one compares with you
And these memories lose their meaning
When I think of love as something new
Though I know I'll never lose affection
For people and things that went before
I know I'll often stop and think about them
In my life I love you more

Though I know I'll never lose affection
For people and things that went before
I know I'll often stop and think about them
In my life I love you more
In my life I love you more

--JOHN LENNON lyrics - "In My Life"
(Lennon/McCartney)

This is the only photo of my father and mother, my brother and myself together at the same time, in the same place. My family, together for an instant of time stopped, caught at some fancy dinner a long time ago, maybe a wedding, or--? God bless the camera, and whoever looked at us there, at that table, through the viewfinder. Mama wears a polkadot dress, daddy wears a flower in his lapel, flowers bloom in vases, and oh! there are CANDLES! The plates wait for whatever food will soon fill them. Someone says: Say cheese! And we all turn our faces toward the camera. On this night, for this one moment, we are all together. It is all good. My family. I often stop and think about them...in my life I love them more.

That's really nice, pepek. It pulls at my heartstrings. How attached we can become, even to photos, because they remind us of the love in our lives, and the love from the past. At least the love endures.

Okay, I'm laughing here, really laughing because I was reading this not knowing it was John Lennon thinking gee, this isn't as good as Pepek's usual stuff, not a patch, ha ha......I hope that makes you smile. (that said, it's a good lyric, I'm amazed I didn't recognise it, too busy being bemused by the turn your writing had taken (laughing). The photo is wonderful, I love old photos.

Pepek..this brought tears to my eyes..what wonderful memories you have.

You know, I don't have a single photo of my family..only a few pictures of Mama, and most of them were taken during her illness.

Thank you for sharing your photos with us..I always enjoy them so much.

With love..

Yes, we didn't take so many photos in the old days. I'm trying to think if I have any of my original family all together. Someone was always taking the photo!
