Poetry Thursday (In My Head)
No Passion Greater Than the Mind
No Passion Greater than the Mind
Devours the Body or the Soul --
And all I know of Base Desire
By Mind was Body told.
My Soul kept White as Ivory
B'ignoring where the Body's sent --
May drop a Tear and shed a Sigh
Before this Passion's spent.
* * * *
Mind Is A Tiger In A Cage
Mind is a Tiger in a Cage --
Soul is a Desert Flower
That withers for Little Space
And dies a Little Hour.
Mind is a Tiger in a Cage --
But Flesh is Recompense
When Soul so Curiously Fades
For Want of sustenance.

Thank you for the welcome. I can see where blogging can become addictive... creating our own and reading other's.
I enjoyed Emily's poem, it rang so true.
T'was MY poem, written (as best I could)in Emily's Voice!
Thank you!
These were really good and I thought they were miss Emily's too. Wow!
It's a fun exercize to try to find someone else's voice. I have tried it a few times with some of my favorite poets.
Very impressive!!!
Thanks, superhero. Shazzam! (You are probably to young to remember that one!)
And endment! so nice to have ou drop by!
Oh What FUN! Very Emily. . .
yum yum yum!
i sure live in my head...
Sometimes
In your head is safe,
as its helm defends
your grey matter,
beneath
it cradles
your heart.
Nice, they really do have that Emily kind of flow to them.
Although... I'm a bit unclear on "B'ignoring".
Ha! I wondered about that myself. That was a last minute throw in. By ignoring... seemed to make more sense, but it threw the meter off. I had it just Ignoring at first.
What d'you think???
nancy, I have so little grey matter left, it needs all the protection it can get!
A very nice thought, for sure!
loved these words..no passion greater than the mind..mind is a tiger in a cage...miss emily would be proud..thank you for sharing m
love the picture. both poems were very topical to me this week..helped ease my pain again sweet pepek!
Sometimes I find you site very funky. Just a little off beat. That's good. Makes a person think.
oh, wendy. Just, oh, wendy! I am so sorry you are in pain...
silverlight, thanks. I guess funky is good, unless its cheese or fish....
You are right, VT is the home of the Green Mt.Boys. My husgand and his Aunt know lots of VT history and they are great story tellers. I always enjoy listening to them!
pam! If you know some good stories about the Green Mountain Boys, write a post on them and I will add it to my family history! (and I'll give you credit!)
nancy, that was great!
